Have mercy on me, O LORD, for I am weak; O LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled.
~Psalms 6:2

**If you have noticed, my scripture choices have been geared towards healing, as I go through the facet injection procedures, this has weighed heavy on my heart.
Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise.
~Jeremiah 17:14
What a wonderful sporadic evening it was Monday night!

Let's just say it all started with a baking spree on Sunday.  I had a bunch of bananas that were "past their prime," so I decided to bake two loaves of banana bread.  Yes, two loaves.  One for work, and one for my dear friend Jen.  I was just hoping she was going to either answer her email or phone on Monday so I could drop it by her house after work.

They guys  at work liked their banana bread.  Yessss! Success!!!

I finally got in touch with Jen, and she asked "are you going to stay for dinner?" ... Well, after calling Jon and getting permission (he, he), of course I did!

I always have a fantastic time with Jen.  She's a fabulous girl, er, um, lady.  We just don't get to see each other enough.  We joked, shared "medical stories," made dinner, folder laundry (you read that correctly), and of course, ate Jen's yummy chicken.  It's a very simple recipe even I can repeat, and plan to!  Oh, and she liked the banana bread too!  Yessss!!!

All in all, an absolutely wonderful Monday evening.  I couldn't ask for anything better.  There wasn't even traffic on the way home.  Then again, it was 7:30 =D.

Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed. I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with My victorious right hand.

~Isaiah 41:10
Sorry, I forgot to post yesterday, so here's yesterday's & today's!

And he said unto me, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness." Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong
~2 Corinthians 12:9-10

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
~ Galatians 5:22

Hope you have a blessed day!!!
These days, everyone is on a budget.  Costs for practically everything keep going up, pay is going down (or stagnating).  What's a family to do?

Well, as you well know, I am a huge fan of freebies and coupons.  Honestly, yes, if you are serious about these two things, it does take a substantial amount of time to coordinate, however I think it is worth every minute (and ever penny saved).

So, I thought I would share a few of my recent shopping trips, how I saved during those trips, AND some other tips and techniques for saving money, budgeting, and getting products for free

Shopping Trips

Whenever possible, we buy our groceries from ALDI.  Most people don't want to buy generic.  But why?  Unless it's a product you specifically prefer in a particular brand, I say go generic.  And at ALDI, they stand behind their "generic" products.  If you are unsatisfied with an ALDI product, you can take it back to the store.

With this in mind, we make two, sometimes three stops when grocery shopping.  We purchase the bulk of our food at ALDI, including milk, eggs, cheese, meat, bread & fruit and vegetables.  The quality of their produce if extraordinary.  It beats Giant Food on any day of the week.

Our second stop is at Target.  Target is our go-to store for brand name items, household items, and medical products.  They also have, very frequently, coupons for a $10 Gift Card with a new prescription purchase.  And because I do take a few different medicines, this comes in handy.  We can get $40-$50 in gift cards in a month, if the timing of the coupon is right (if it coincides with my doctor's appointments where I receive my prescriptions).  Combine that with my use of coupons, and we save tons of money at Target!

Lastly, on occasion, we find it necessary to stop at Giant to pick-up specialty grocery items not sold at ALDI or Target.  When we do shop at Target, we strive to purchase only items on sale, and with a coupon if at all possible.

Shopping Trip Examples

A typical ALDI trip usually ends up around $45.  Today, I spent $49.94.  ALDI does not accept coupons, so no extra discounts here.

Target shopping trips vary depending on the products we need (think about all the stuff available at Target), the amount of coupons I have, and if we have any gift cards.  This week was an unusual week, and I went to Target twice because I had special coupons to use. I'll explain:
The 1st trip to Target included purchasing Swiffer refills, Renuzit Adjustables, and some items I got for *almost* free thanks to coupons.  The original total was $78.45.  Take off $51.48 in coupons, a $10 Target Prescription Gift Card, and an $8.99 rebate Visa card...my total out of pocket cost was $7.98!!!
The 2nd trip to Target included Scrubbing Bubbles, lots of dog food (with coupons of course), and a few nail implements.  The original total was $88.81.  Take off a whopping $67.69 in coupon savings, and my out of pocket was $20.72!

On Giant Food shopping trips, our typical savings (including Bonus Card savings) is 40%.  Decent, but not great.  However, this week, I had some awesome coupons and the trip went like this:  Original total was $58.70.  Take off $10.74 in Bonus Card savings, a $10 Giant Food coupon (from the previous shopping trip -- I think it was from buying a certain amount of frozen foods we received that coupon), and $34.96 in coupons (most of which were "free item" coupons) and the grand total out of pocket was...wait for it...$0.50!!! That's right!  You read that right, $0.50!!! Let me tell you what I purchased in that trip: four full size frozen pizzas that come with sides in the box as well, and six frozen dinners for Jon's lunches. All I have to say is WOW!

How in the...?

How can you save so much in coupons you ask?  Well, I plan to make a series of postings on couponing.  But to complete this post, I will explain how to use coupons effectively at Target.

First, the basics.  There are three types of coupons you can use at Target:  Manufacturer's Coupons (Regular and Web), Target Coupons (Regular and Web), and Target Mobile Coupons.  For one product purchased, you can use one manufacturer's coupon, one target coupon, and one target mobile coupon.

Examples:
  1. Excedrin ES, 20 ct. $3.87 - I had (1) $3.00 Target Coupon and (1) $1.00 Manufacturer's Coupon = FREE with overage!
  2. Zantac 24 ct. or more $7.59 - I had (1) $2.00 Target Coupon and (1) $5.00 Manufacturer's Coupon = $0.59 Total!
  3. Pond's Towlettes $4.79 - I had (1) $1.50 Target Coupon and (1) $1.50 Manufacturer's Coupon =  $1.79 Total...not too shabby!!!

Well, that's about all I have for you now, but as promised, I'll be writing again soon!
Cya!

The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.
Psalm 145:8

And he said unto me, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness." Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

It is my goal to post one piece of scripture, relative to my life, everyday on on my blog.  So, here's the first one:

fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

—Isaiah 41:10

Please make me accountable if I miss a day, it's very important to me that I do this everyday and remember that our Lord God, our Saviour, has endless words to help me through each day of my life.

My Friend Jen

Today, a dear friend of mine, Jen, will begin (hopefully the last step) of her thyroid cancer therapy.  Although I don't understand the treatment completely, I do know that today she will swallow a pill of radioactive iodine, which should (will!!!) target the remaining cancer cells in her body and destroy them.  About three months ago, she had to have her thyroid glands completely removed because of the cancer.

So, today, tomorrow, the next day, and anytime you feel appropriate, please say a prayer for my friend Jen.  My thoughts and prayers have been centered on Jen, her emotional, spiritual, and of course physical health.  This has weighed heavy on my heart for weeks.

If you want to know more about Jen and her "journey,"  you can read her blog.

Hallelujah!
"The Facet Injections"
have finally been scheduled!!!
Wow, it's been a long road.  And it isn't over yet.  However, hopefully, this will take most of of the speed bumps and pot holes out of my way...if you know what I mean.  By the way, they are finally taking the speed bump out of my parking spot in front of my house.  How nice is that!

What are the Facet Treatments/Injections, you ask? We'll let me explain to the best of my ability.  And since I've had these treatment before, I should know this a little better than I do.  But hey, I do know more NOW than I did back THEN, so that's an improvement, anyway, right?

OK, first a short explanation of the problem and a little anatomy.  I have scoliosis in my lower back, which causes me moderate to sever lower back, butt, and leg pain on most days.  Some of it is muscular pain and some of it is facet joint pain.  The Facet Treatments, as the name indicates, is to treat the facet joint pain.  Each vertebra in the spine is connected to the one above and below by the facet joints.  Facet joints are found on both sides of the spine, and are about the size of a thumbnail.  They connect to the spine and allow us to flex, and rotate our back.

The facet treatment consists of three procedures.  The first two are are diagnostic procedures.  They are minimally invasive and performed under local anesthesia, where a diagnostic block of the dorsal medial branch nerves (the nerves supplying the facet joints the communicate pain) is performed, in hopes of alleviating pain.  These two procedures are performed two weeks apart.

Four weeks later, if the first two procedures were successful alleviating pain, a radiofrequency denervation is performed.  This procedure uses radiofrequency energy to disrupt nerve function, and therefore the nerve cannot transmit pain from an injured/inflamed facet joint.

During this procedure, I'll be given IV anesthesia and a local anesthetic to numb the area of my back.  A thin needle will be inserted near the facet joint, guided by flouroscopy again.  To ensure the correct location of the needle, the Dr. will stimulate the nerve, causing twitching.  Once the needle is properly placed, radiofrequency energy will be used to disrupt the nerve.  This can be repeated in multiple locations on the spine.

...Sound like fun? Well, let's all pray that this will make my back feel much better!!!

1. My favorite online scrapbooking website : Picaboo...
You have to download the program to your computer, but of all the online scrapbooking programs out there, it's the best.  Picaboo has the best tools, wallpapers, stickers, everything.  Not to mention, they have fabulous sales, all the time.

2. Purex Insiders: Check it out here
Purex Insiders is for bloggers and is a place to share information, ideas and feedback, and get to know other Purex Insiders better.  One of the great perks - FREE PRODUCTS!  Now you're talking my language. FREE works for ME!
Shortly after joining, I was asked if I wanted to receive a free product:  Purex Complete Crystals Softener....Ummm...Sure!  And about a week later, and package (which was packaged very, very nicely by the way) came in the mail with my Softener.  Smells very good!  And came with a coupon for a FREE full size product of the same.  Awesome!  But it doesn't end there.  A few days later, I received a letter in the mail from Purex Insiders, with THREE more coupons for the FREE FULL SIZE PRODUCT.  STOKED!

3.  Expotv:  Sharing your opinions by uploading very short videos
I love Expotv because it's a site that allows me to share my opinion of products (I like being heard), at the same time earning points towards FREE stuff and having the chance to try out full size products for FREE (there's one of my favorite words again =D).  Here's how it works: they send you invitations on products to review, you choose which you would like to review, and you record short webcam reviews.  Once in a while, you will get an invitation for a "Tryology," which is when they send you a full size product for you to try, then you, again record your webcam review.  Awesome, huh?  I've been a member since Oct '10, and I just received my third Tryology.

4.  Twitter:  I love to see what going on by the minute...
Not everyone likes twitter, but I sure do!  Especially because I am a "follower" of some great couponing, deal-catching bloggers, that find fantastic deals, especially (here's that word again) FREEBIES!

So, there's a few of my favorite (computer/internet) things right now.  Hope you enjoyed!
My wonderful, fabulous, husband, wanted to get me something for Valentines Day, and took my advice to get me a plant instead of flowers for Valentine's Day.

I wanted bamboo to replace my old bamboo at work that didn't make it through January thanks to my neglect.

So, check out my new awesome double heart bamboo that is now on my desk at work.

I love it!!!  And I promise to take care of it everyday, and to never let it run out of water.

Thank you Jonathan, I Love you so much!!!

So, as I've been told, 30 was "the top of the hill," and now since I am 31, I am heading  down the hill "chasing black butterflies...?
(whatever that is supposed to mean)
Check out this awesome card from my co-workers and the artwork included!

So welcome to Crimson and the big 3-1.

For my birthday, I treated myself with a much needed haircut.
Trimmed about six inches off the bottom, and yes, the bangs.
I like it!

The best birthday card in the whole wide world!
My friends know me oh so well.  Take a good look at this card,
it is so funny, and so fitting for me!

Yeah, so the first set of birthday flowers weren't even photo worthy.  It was supposed to be a dozen roses, with sixteen extra stems.  Super Negative.  It was, maybe sixteen stems total, and only nine roses.  So, I called the company and complained, and they apologized for the error and said they would send me out the correct bouquet immediately.

The beautiful bouquet below is what I received the second time.
I love them!!!  They are gorgeous and give me such happiness every time I look at them on my desk at work.
